Announcement    Welcome to Glynt Pottery!
My aim in making pots is to bring beauty to the smallest of every day acts. The first mug of coffee in the morning or a cup of hot tea on a rainy afternoon... The comfort of soup from a warm stoneware bowl on a cold winter's day... A vase to showcase the flowers from your garden... So, when I make my pots I think about how they will look on your dinner table or in your home. Will this casserole dish bring a smile to your lips when you serve your children's favorite mac 'n cheese? Is this bowl large enough for popcorn for two on movie night? Will this little lamp make the monsters under the bed go away for your little one? Thank you for welcoming me into your home!
The work of creating pots has taken me on an amazing journey of self-discovery. On the way, I met wonderfully generous potters who continue to inspire me. Several years ago, at a special museum showing, I was able to handle a thousand-year-old Chinese pot. Feeling the pot's weight in my hands and tracing the marks left by that ancient potter was a powerful and uplifting experience because I felt that the pot was able to connect me to the unknown potter of centuries past. I believe that these connections between the maker and the user explain the attraction of handmade pottery and handmade work in general. Each piece that I make is a personal act of creation that attempts to continue those connections: "From my hands to your home."

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

I will gladly make a custom order for you. Custom orders usually take 3 to 4 weeks. Depending on the time of year and where I am in the production cycle, orders may take up to 6 to 8 weeks. Personalized items that are not generic (e.g., Dad, Mama) require a 50 percent deposit. Payment for other custom orders is due at purchase.

Care instructions

If properly cared for stoneware can be enjoyed for a long time. Never place a dish on top of a burner or in a preheated (hot) oven. Instead, place room temperature dishes in a cold oven and gradually bring the heat up to the desired temperature. Dishes should be filled so food contacts all interior surfaces.

Teapots should be warmed with hot water before filling them with boiling water. The same is true for colanders: never pour boiling water directly into them.

Stoneware is microwave and dishwasher safe. However, please use care. Some items, such as berry bowls, might best be hand washed.

Gift wrapping and packaging

Because of the fragile nature of ceramics, I pack the items in several layers of bubble wrap before placing them in a box surrounded by biodegradable peanuts. In some cases, it is best to ship multiple items is separate boxes to prevent breakage.

I do not offer gift wrapping. Purchases marked as "gift" will include an Etsy-generated note with your message.

Shipping Options

I ship domestically via USPS Priority mail from Virginia, USA. This is a safe, economical and secure way to ship fragile and relatively heavy items like pottery. However, costs on domestic shipping to the West Coast can be quite high. As a result, free shipping items going to the West Coast may, at my discretion, be shipped via UPS Ground rather than USPS Priority.
For overseas purchases, I ship via USPS First Class International. This is the best shipping option with respect to cost.
